Greeting
Christianity is not a religion, but rather it is a relationship, a restored relationship with our Creator, Savior, and Lord.
The scriptures tell us “the God who made the world and everything in it, is the Lord of heaven and earth. He is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.” (Acts 17:24-25) Our acceptance or rejection of this truth does not make Him any less God.
We have all sinned, and it is our sin that separates us from God. The wages of our sin is eternal death. All of our righteous acts are as filthy rags to God and we are powerless to save ourselves. That is why “God demonstrated his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) “We are all like sheep who have gone astray, each of us turning to our own ways, (but) the Lord has laid on (His Son) the punishment we deserved” (Isaiah 53:6)
Because of the punishment that God’s Son bore in our place, we are told “that if (we) confess with our mouth that ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead, (we) will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
God has given us His Word (the Bible), which is the inspired word of God, and is to be a lamp to our path. It is God’s revealed word to us and “is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
God gives us the Holy Spirit who is his seal of ownership on us, and a guarantee of the eternal life that is to come!
God has also given us a family of other believers. In Hebrews we are encouraged to “hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:23-25)
It is our prayer that as a family at Providence Christian Church, that we would not only grow in our relationship and walk with God, but also in our relationships with one another. We desire that the Love of God would shine through us, so that the world would “know that we are His disciples, by our love one for another.” (John 13:35)
